Kid Cudi has closed out his highly-anticipated Coachella performance by dedicating his final track to two musicians we’ve lost in the last year.
Over the last couple of years, live performances from hip-hop icon Kid Cudi have been relatively sparse.
Having toured in 2017 to support Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, Cudi only hit the stage twice as a solo artist last year, while also teaming up with Kanye West to bring their Kids See Ghosts collab to fans with a one-off show in November.
After months of waiting, Kid Cudi made his highly-anticipated return to Coachella on Saturday night, tearing through a full-length set that consisted of his classic hits, and even a few Kids See Ghosts numbers.
However, this set ended up closing out with a rather emotional moment which saw Cudi dedicate his final track to the memory of late musicians Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle.

“This next one, I wanna dedicate this to Mac Miller and Nipsey Hussle,” Cudi told the crowd, before asking them to sing “as loud as y’all can” to his 2009 tune, ‘Pursuit Of Happiness’.
Mac Miller sadly passed away back in September, with Kid Cudi taking to Twitter in the aftermath to reveal that he was “really fucked up” over the rapper’s death.
Likewise, Nipsey Hussle was tragically murdered at the end of March by way of a shooting outside of his Los Angeles store.

However, Cudi’s dedication was not the only mention that Hussle and Miller received at the festival, with Childish Gambino using his Friday night headline slot to pay tribute to the late hip-hop artists.
“I lost my dad this year, we lost Nipsey, we lost Mac,” Donald Glover explained to the crowd. “What I’m starting to realise, all we really have is memories at the end of the day, that’s all we are.”
“We have so much data, like, we know what’s gonna happen. We’re too afraid to plant a tree that we know we’re not going to eat from.”
“There’s a hundred thousand of you out here right now,” he continued. “There’s a good chance that some of y’all — at least one of y’all — won’t see next week. So what I’m saying is while you’re here, while we’re here, feel something and pass it on.”
