We already know that King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are set to release their newest record at the end of this month, but now the group have yet again bucked conventions and made their new LP available to purchase already… sort of.
King Gizz are due to release their eleventh studio album, Sketches Of Brunswick East, on August 25th, after having previously said it’s ready to drop “at any point”. A collaboration with Mild High Club, the record, their third out of five planned records this year, is set to incorporate some more jazz influences than the driving, neo-psychedelic rock that their previous records have seen.
Now, Stones Throw Records have released an announcement stating that while there is set to be some new information about the upcoming record in coming weeks, the group have decided to raise excitement levels, and put up a signed vinyl test pressing of the new record up on eBay.
Test pressings, by their very nature, are limited edition records which are used to test the sound and pressing quality of an upcoming LP. Very rarely are more than a handful made, so this is undoubtedly set to be a huge addition to the collection of whichever dedicated fan manages to get their hands on it.
The auction is set to continue until Friday morning, but with it having already attracted bids well over the thousand dollar mark, it’s definitely going to be climbing a lot higher.
The auction announcement also states that all proceeds from the auction are going to charity, so if you’re keen, dig deep, since it’s all for a good cause.
No clips from the new album are available yet, but check out Mild High Club playing ‘Rolling Stoned’, a track from the new album, with Stu from King Gizz below.
