After announcing their massive lineup for 2013 a few months ago, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival have revealed the lucky local acts that will be opening proceedings in their respective hometowns.

Thanks to Triple J Unearthed, homegrown talents have been handpicked to play at each of the festival’s five dates around the country, joining the already huge array of international and Australian acts.

Beginning the lineup additions is Jeremy Neale, who will be opening the day in Brisbane. Neale, who was recently announced to be playing at the Boogie 7 Festival in Tallarook, Victoria in Easter next year, is the ringleader of ‘the World’s mightiest band’, garage collective Velociraptor; but Neale also runs a successful solo ship, recently unveiling the first single from his forthcoming solo EP due out next year, a charming vintage-pop tune entitled ‘A Love Affair To Keep You There’.

The Sydney incarnation of Laneway will be opened by young roots musician Mammals, aka Guy Brown, whose tracks ‘Move Slower’ and ‘Carried’ have received extensive coverage over at Unearthed and online.

Wiry Adelaide trio Sincerely, Grizzly have also been added to the bill, following the release their sophomore EP Doom And Gloom in October and embarking on an extensive national tour. The lead single off the EP, ‘Isaac’, has found airtime on Triple J, and the trio will also be making an appearance at the Adelaide leg of Big Day Out.Thanks to Triple J Unearthed, homegrown talents have been handpicked to play at each of the festival’s five dates around the country, joining the already huge array of international and Australian acts.

Over in Melbourne, songstress Ali Barter will begin the day with her folk-infused pop songs, including ‘Run You Down’, which is already garnering high praise. Barter will also be supporting fellow Aussies The Trouble With Templeton in their upcoming national tour.

Rounding out the local additions is Perth’s Rainy Day Women, who will be bring their summer-loving tunes to Laneway Festival. It’s been a big year for the quartet, having already graced the stages of St. Kilda Festival and Groovin’ The Moo, as well as supporting the likes of San Cisco, Loon Lake, The Rubens, and Ball Park Music.

This lucky quintet of Aussie acts will be joining the illustrious array of international artists, including the Mercury Music Prize-winning alt-J, who were recently in the country for a whirlwind tour of two massively hyped sell-out shows, Bat For Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) who will also be playing two special sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne. Khan’s hotly anticipated third album The Haunted Man has received widespread praise since it’s release in October this year.

Cloud Nothings will be gracing our shores early next year for the festival, whose album Attack On Memory has been appearing prominently on various ‘Best Of’ end of year lists. Joining them will be fellow post-hardcore indie rockers Japandroids, with the Canadians releasing sophomore effort Celebration Rock in June.

Brooklyn boho-popsters Yeasayer, indie supergroup Divine Fits, genre-bending Polica, Icelandic darlings Of Monsters And Men, and English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware are all also featured on the impressive lineup.
