Well we did predict it after all and now Joy Division bassist Hook has confirmed that he’ll be bringing his latest Joy Division experience to Australia. After the success of his 2010 Unknown Pleasures 30th Anniversary Tour, the bassist will return to Australia in 2012 with his band THE LIGHT, to play the classic album Closer, in full, sequentially and in track order.

We’ve been pretty vocal about Hook’s plan to rerecord Joy Division tracks and even Mani from Primal Scream jumped on board. As did Bernard Sumner, Hook’s ex-bandmate, which infuriated Hook and prompted more cross words. Whatevs.

Anyway, we’re certainly not denying Peter Hook is a founding member two of the most significant bands in popular musical history – Joy Division and New Order – and a bit of a legend in his own right. And he’s certainly not the only artist clinging onto past glory and delivering it to fans. There’s only one way to judge: tickets go on sale tomorrow.
