The first confirmed act on the Splendour In The Grass 2012 lineup has let it slip to Noise11 over the weekend during an interview at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

British psychedelic quartet Django Django will be journeying down under after a short visit to Japan where according to the band they will be added to the Fuji Rock lineup alongside the likes of Jack White, At The Drive-In, The Shins, the Stone Roses and Radiohead.

Synth player Tommy Grace’s sister lives in Melbourne, so the band reckon they’ll have a couch to crash on as they’ll no doubt take advantage of their trip here to play a couple of showcase shows around the country.

According to the interview they’ve also heard about the Django Django restaurant in Fitzroy, Melbourne, and they plan on checking it out when they’re in the city.

The Shins also let slip they’re due to play Splendour which will be making a triumphant return to Byron Bay this year, although at this stage they’re only ‘pencilled in’.

A few other names such as Lana Del Rey, Sleigh Bells, and The Ting Tings have also been suggested although none of the acts have responded to the rumours.

Two things we do know however – despite rumours to the contrary earlier this year neither the Stone Roses or Radiohead will be making an appearance at the festival. Radiohead have since announced an East Coast tour of Australia which sold out in record time.

The actual lineup is expected to be announced sometime in April.

Hopefully Splendour can buck the trend this year after a number of festivals failed to meet expectations or simply fell over these last 12 months.
