The Splendour In The Grass 2012 lineup has been announced, that will see the likes of travel to Byron Bay in July.
There’s been rampant speculation surrounding the lineup this year, and while a number of names have been floated organisers have been able to keep a lid on much of the lineup, despite the high profile leak of Jack White.
Yesterday a number of other acts leaked their involvement, including Los Angeles electro duo Electric Guest, and Melbourne indie wunderkid Chet Faker.
Otherwise there are a number of credible rumours making the rounds that gave us some idea of what to expect.
The Shins for instance let slip they’re due to play Splendour, although admitted they were only ‘pencilled in’. A few other names such as Lana Del Rey, Sleigh Bells, and The Ting Tings were also been suggested although none of the acts responded to the rumours.
The festival will be returning to Belongil Fields, after temporarily moving to Woodfordia in Queensland in 2009, while it waits for approval from a planning commission for a new festival site it purchased a few years back.
“Despite great efforts to have the festival at North Byron Parklands this year, we are yet to have a determination on the application.” said Splendour Co-Producer Jessica Ducrou. “In the meantime and after much consideration we are excited at the prospect of returning to the birth place of Splendour.”
