“Thank you Queensland and Victoria!”, that’s the ringing salutations from Soundwave Festival with news that after general tickets went on sale this morning at 9am, that the Brisbane and Melbourne legs of the touring event have completely sold out in record time.

A press statement from Soundwave organisers adds that “the remaining states (Adelaide and Perth) are not far behind with Sydney expected to sell out soon as well!”

It’s not too much of a surprise when you take into account the truly massive list of high-profile acts that festival boss AJ Maddah has ensnared for the 2013 bill, and the fact that the pre-sale for the event was so strong that only 15% of total tickets were left allocated for this morning’s general public sale.

Glancing at the Soundwave 2013 lineup, the allure is obvious. Punters racing to catch three of metal’s ‘Big Four’, with the second round announcement seeing Slayer joining headliners Metallica and Anthrax; or wanting to see Blink 182 – complete with fear-of-flying drummer Travis Barker – in their first Austalian show in over a decade.

Then there is the more populist acts rounding out the bill, including arena-rock’s Linkin Park, pop-punk veterans The Offspring, along with the likes of Garbage and Paramore. Along with a solid taste of the heavy and hard variety, such as Bullet For My Valentine, Tomahawk, Stone Sour, Kyuss Lives – the list goes on and on.

There’s one act we can subtract from the billing however, though it’s not quite a cancellation.

With the newly-reformed A Perfect Circle announced for the Soundwave 2013 bill, rumours swelled that frontman and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan would be bringing his humorous side-project Puscifer along for the ride – only for them to be shot down, then yesterday – confrimed again.

It now turns out that Puscifer’s confirmation – originally coming from the group’s co-vocalist, Carina Round in a tweet – was nothing but a “bad joke.”

So to clarify, Puscifer WILL NOT be playing Soundwave 2013, again coming from the twitter of Carina Round, who wrote today after yesterday’s ‘confirmation’ spiraled out of hand: “Sorry guys. Bad joke.” Seems appropriate considering the band’s controversial brand of humour…

Still there’s plenty left to enjoy from Soundwave 2013’s immense lineup, which we’ve included below to remind those of you lucky enough to score tickets just what a treat you’re in for.

Update 3:15pm 22nd August: Tickets for the Sydney leg of Soundwave have now also sold out, joining the record sales from Melbourne and Brisbane. Festival promoter AJ Maddah has since tweeted that tickets to the remaining legs are selling quickly, with about 6,000 out of 24,000 tickets left in Adelaide and about 70% of Perth sold.
