With a lineup featuring some of the best and brightest international acts headed over for Splendour In The Grass, last year’s first ever Spin Off Festival managed to bring a taste of Splendour to Adelaide for its blockbuster launch, mixing the international likes of Lana Del Rey and Band of Skulls with more homegrown fare like Kimbra and Last Dinosaurs to an all-ages audience to great success.

Having already confirmed their return for 2013 following its successful inauguration last year, following the full Splendour 2013 lineup announcement organisers can now reveal their winning hand for Spin Off Festival 2013, taking place this year on Friday 2nd August in an around the new intimate and picturesque musical setting of Thebarton Theatre.

A statement from Spin Off Festival reads:

A year ago we teamed up with our friend from Splednour In The Grass, Paul Piticco, to put on a bite-sized version of the festival right here in Adelaide… In the end we had so much fun we had to do it all again.” Adding that, “it’s little wonder that Splendour sold out in minutes, but how do you pick from so many great bands? Unfortunately we couldn’t get them all – we would if we could – but we are pretty darn excited about the ones we snagged.”

They’re not the only ones…

Topping the bill are Icelandic folk collective Of Monsters And Men, who return to Adelaide after playing this year’s Laneway Festival. Headlining Spin Off Festival 2013, they’ve risen in huge popularity in Australia over the release of their #1 debut album My Head Is An Animal

Another return international act, after headlining Parklife 2012, is those fine purveyors of synthpop Passion Pit, bound to bring a selection of sweet delights from their highly acclaimed records, Manners and Gossamer.

Locally, there’s plenty to enjoy too, including rising soultronica crooner Chet Faker – fresh from his national support slot with Flume – and the very young but very talented team of Snakadaktal. Also featured on the Splendour bill and headed to Adelaide to deliver their neo-garage punk tunes are FIDLAR, and rounding out the local contingent are Brisbanites The Jungle Giants, and those cheeky, scuzzy rockers Dune Rats.

More local bands, DJs, and possibly even a few lineup surprises are expected still to come, but with such a great mix of music under one roof – and given the slim pickings of Splendour sideshows in Adelaide, tickets for Spin Off Festival 2013 are likely to disappear quickly and an event not to be missed.

Pre-sale tickets will be available to Spin Off Festival mailing list subscribers from 9am, Wednesday 8th May, with general public getting access to tickets when they go on sale the following Friday 10th May at 9am through Venuetix.
