Future Music Festival 2014 has added a very special act to the lineup, just over two months out from the festival’s kick-off this March.

Joining the likes of Deadmau5, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Phoenix at the top of the Future Music Festival 2014 lineup is none other than Pharrell Williams.

Speaking of his imminent visit to Australia, the N*E*R*D/Neptune renaissance man said in a statement: “Australia is such a fun place for music – I’ve always had amazing experiences there. Looking forward to seeing all the fans come out for Future Music Festival – can’t wait to perform and show them my gratitude.”

The 40-year-old rapper-producer-performer has two major awards ceremonies that precede his Future Music Festival 2014 appearance, the 56th Annual Grammys this Sunday 26th January (where he’s earned seven nominations and will be playing live with Daft Punk) and the 86th Academy Awards.

In fact Williams Oscar nomination for ‘Happy, his contribution to animated feature Despicable Me 2 (and the world’s first 24 hour-long music video), and his attendance at the ceremony on Sunday 2nd March clashes with the opening Brisbane and Perth legs of Future. Meaning Pharrell will only be performing at Future Music Festival 2014 in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. “Looking forward to seeing all the fans come out for Future Music Festival – can’t wait to perform and show them my gratitude.”

But rather than letting his Oscars attendance spoil the fun, Pharrell Williams will be performing two special headline sideshows for Brisbane and Perth audiences. Future Music Festival ticket holders in these markets will be offered an exclusive discount to the sideshows via an emailed pre-sale offer (dates and details below).

This year’s edition of Future Music Festival is the first under the event’s new presenting partners, an alliance between Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring and Future to present the flagship series, as well as its ‘sister event’, the underage Good Life Festival – now expanding nationally.

The new partnership that drew a lot of industry tradition,  following reports that companies formerly tied to Future Music Festival entered into liquidation amongst an estimated $500,000 or more owed to creditors of the last year’s edition of Future Music Festival.

Regardless of what’s brewing behind the scenes, Future Music Festival 2014, and its massive lineup – featuring EDM superstar Deadmau5, ‘Thrift Shop’ hit-makers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and French indie royalty Phoneix, along with some of the world’s biggest DJ names – ensures the annual event continues unabated.

Future Music Festival 2014 has also introduced new festival sites in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, as well as “state of the art audio” and intense light shows at every leg of the March event.
