Singer/model/actress Sky Ferreira has announced her debut visit to Australia, after previously teasing a trip Down Under for a certain winter music festival.

The 21-year-old is confirmed to perform a one-off show at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, presented by Splendour In The Grass organisers Secret Sounds, on Tuesday 18th March, which is very likely designed as a warm-up gig for a return to play Splendour in July.

Known for her string of feature singles, including ‘You’re Not The One’ and ‘Everything Is Embarrassing’ (co-written with Dev ‘Blood Orange’ Hynes), Sky Ferreira released her debut album Night Time, My Time last October. She’s since toured with Vampire Weekend and Smith Westerns, and her one-off Aussie concert follows shortly after a high-profile US tour with the twerk-terror herself, Miley Cyrus.

Ferreira has been rumoured for Splendour In The Grass 2014 since January, when she told Triple J, “I’m definitely coming in July for a festival, I think. I’m not quite sure [of the exact date], but it’s in my summer.”

Next month’s whistle-stop Sydney visit is presented by Secret Sounds, who have previously done similar Splendour ‘warm-up’ tours for the likes of Lana Del Rey and Foster The People in the past, as well as Splendour 2013 act James Blake who played a two-date tour in March last year before letting slip on the same tour that he’d be back in July for the festival.

By that logic, Ferreira is the latest in a number of Secret Sounds-presented shows expected for the Splendour 2014 lineup, including atmospheric Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow, and European maverick Mikhael Paskalev, who is also touring Australian in March, as well London Grammar.

The British trio already strongly hinted at a return to Australia this year for the winter music festival, and were also announced as part of the Fuji Rock 2014 lineup yesterday, which regularly shares acts with Splendour’s bill.

Other acts announced for the Japanese music festival that could be jetting to Byron include Basement Jaxx, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand (whose eponymous debut LP recently turned 10 years old), Bombay Bicycle Club, Darkside, SBTRKT, Parquet Courts, The Strypes, The Waterboys, BBC Sound Of 2014 pick Jungle, plus Bloody Beetroots, and Australia’s own John Butler Trio.

The biggest Splendour rumour doing the rounds is that Outkast could headline, following the hip hop duo of Big Boi and André 3000 reuniting to appear as a “marquee act at over 40 festivals around the world” in a global comeback tour. Outkast are already locked in for US festivals Coachella and Firefly Music Festival (which both feature a bunch of Aussie bands coincidentally).
