After months of speculation, Big Day Out have official let us in on plans to announce their lineup for 2012. This year they’ll be changing up their formula just slightly however digging into the vault and releasing a time capsule for each year of Big Day Out including the line-up, memorabilia, video, ticket, images and merchandise.
Once they’ve opened the vault on 2011 it will be time to announce the 2012 lineup. A statement on a new countdown blog setup by Big Day Out says “This year it’s all happening a little differently: on the evening of Thursday 29th September we will announce seventeen acts from our first announcement via our official Facebook and Twitter (make sure you are following us!) then it’s time to get some beauty sleep before Tom and Alex announce three of the headliners and another special treat during triple j breakfast.”
As always we’ll keep you posted as soon as a confirmed lineup lands on our desk. Until then the best we have is Kasabian who confirmed last week they’ll be joining us and speculation from supposed ‘industry insiders’ such as Big Day Out Spy who’s latest lineup prediction reads as follows:
1st band: The Vaccines
2nd band: Boy and Bear
3rd band: Florence and the Machine
4th band: Josh Pyke
5th band: The Decemberists
6th band: Chase and Status
7th band: The Killers
8th band: Karnivool
