Mariah Carey’s ex-husband Nick Cannon has revealed how far he went in order to get back at Eminem for dissing Carey on record.

Around the turn of the 2010s Eminem ignited a pretty odd (but not unprecedented) feud with Mariah Carey. It stemmed from Em’s claim he’d had a relationship with the pop singer; a relationship she completely denied. The song ‘Bagpipes from Baghdad’ from 2009’s Relapse taunted the newlyweds by indicating Em was still in love with Mariah.

“Nick Cannon better back the fuck up/I’m not playin’, I want her back, you punk,” is just one of a whole series of terribly juvenile lyrics. Mariah responded with the song ‘Obsessed’, which pleads for reason. “Why you so obsessed with me? Boy, I wanna know/Lying that you’re sexing me.”

Another Eminem song surfaced in response, 2010’s ‘The Warning’. Last year Cannon told T.I. how angry it all made him. “I’m like, ‘This my wife. My new wife,'” he said. Cannon and Carey tied the knot in 2008. “I said, ‘I know I’m not gonna be able to out rap you but I will whoop your ass.'”

After this interview aired, Eminem reignited the feud with his guest verse on Fat Joe & Dre’s ‘Lord Above’: “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note/But that other dude’s whipped, that pussy got him neutered.”

Now Cannon has elaborated on how far he went to shut Eminem down. He told VladTV he tried to set up a boxing match between them. Eminem was vying for the lead role in the film Southpaw at the time and Cannon contacted his trainer, Emanuel Steward.

“I was like, ‘Set it up, E,'” Cannon said. “Real talk, I was like ‘I want to match whatever energy he’s on.’
