After a helluva few weeks of drama, Nicki Minaj is putting the attention firmly back on to her new music.
Following her brief ‘retirement’, the rapper is dropping hints about her new album – on its way for 2020 release. Fans have already gotten themselves hyped for a new Nicki Minaj record off the back of the release of ‘Yikes’ this month.
Minaj, who’s been adamant in pointing out that the track is simply a taster, not an official single, doesn’t hold back in ‘Yikes’, with fans praising her delivery.
Yikes is definitely a vibe, if a promo single is 🔥🔥 just imagine how the single gon be. We really winning this era. The Queen still reigns, who is seeing her?#YikesOutNow

Now that ‘Yikes’ has been out and doing its thing, Minaj has been letting fans know more about her upcoming record; namely the new persona she’ll be introducing as part of it. Having been known to have various alter egos show up in her music (Roman Zolansky, Nicki Lewinsky, Barbie etc), Minaj’s told fans her new character will be ‘Queen Sleeze’.

Fleshing out Queen Sleeze’s persona further, Nicki pointed out that she might be more reserved, but still packs a punch.
“She’s calm but way deadlier,” Nicki told a fan on Twitter. “My husband always says he’s more afraid when I talk quiet than when I yell. Lmao. He said that’s how he knows when I’m dead tf serious.”

The last few weeks have been up and down for Minaj. First, the imprisonment of her brother on child abuse charges and more recently, her vicious online sparring match with ex, Meek Mill, has had the rapper squarely in the spotlight for the worst reasons.
On the music front, Nicki’s collaboration with Meghan Trainor – ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ – arrived at the end of January to a positive response. All eyes are on what the new Minaj record will be like as a follow up to 2018’s Queen.
