One of the greatest Aussie punk records of the last few years has been repressed, with Private Function putting their debut record back in stock, with a Limp Bizkit-inspired twist.

Cast your mind back to October 31st of 2018 for a second. It’s a Wednesday night, and down in Melbourne, Los Angeles punk icons The Bronx are taking to the stage at The Croxton for a massive headline show. But before they do, there’s a couple more bands on the bill, including High Tension and… Limp Bizkit?

No, not quite, rather it’s Melbourne’s own Private Function taking to the stage dressed as the ‘revered’ Florida nu-metal group, paying homage to the likes of Fred Durst and Wes Borland in terms of their outfits, and by dropping a cover of ‘Break Stuff’ into their set.

Little did fans know at the time, this underrated performance would preface the following year’s arrival of their debut album, St. Anger. In typical fashion, that record’s artwork paid tribute to the uh, iconic Metallica album of the same name, with its limited vinyl pressings also keeping in the same theme. Why, the record was made available in ‘Mustaine Mustard’, ‘Ride The Whitening’, and even a standard ‘Black Album Black’ for those who like to stay away from that whole hornet’s nest of coloured vinyl altogether.

Together at last.

Since its initial release, it’s received a few more pressings, including a limited edition ‘censored’ album cover, and even a liquid-filled edition. Now, with the last copies of its latest pressing selling out, it’s time for another round of records to make their way onto turntables the world over. But how does a band like Private Function (who once pressed actual bags of speed into a record) top their previous efforts? Well, that’s where the great Limp Bizkit come into play.

Announced today, Melbourne’s Disdain Records have put up a new run of pressings for Private Function’s St. Anger album, with the new editions paying tribute to the nu-metal icons and their Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured water album. The new pressing is available in three variants, including a brown ‘Chocolate Starfish’ edition, a clear ‘Hotdog Flavoured Water’ version, and a self-explanatory ‘Red Durst’ colourway as well.

Pre-orders for the new versions of the record are available now, and if the band’s dedicated fanbase is anything to go by, these won’t be around for long. So be sure to head along to the Disdain Records webstore now to secure your copy.

Private Function recently hit the road to kick off their current run of tour dates, having played the Yours & Owls and Meadow festivals over the past few weeks. They’re due to play Geelong this weekend, so read on for full details, and of course, PF STILL ON TOP!
