In November last year, Rosie Darling unleashed her debut single ‘Coping’. A slow-burning pop gem that struck a chord in our yearning hearts.

It didn’t take long for the track, which feels like it belongs in an 8tracks “staring out a rainy car window” playlist, to become a certified streaming monolith. In the months since its release, it’s amassed over 8 million plays on Spotify and earned kudos from the likes of LANY.

Rosie Darling, a Boston native, made the jump to Los Angeles where she enlisted the help of a sublime lineup of songwriters, producers and engineers — including Justin Gammella (Lennon Stella, Ashe, Blake Rose), Andy Seltzer (Chelsea Cutler, Shallou, Joan), Michael Brauer (Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, Vance Joy), and Joe Laporta (Halsey, JP Saxe, Gracie Abrams) — to help bring ‘Coping’ to life.

Now, Rosie Darling unveiled her debut EP, Coping, a collection of delicately written, soaring pop songs that explore all the trials and tribulations of friendship, heartbreak and loneliness.

“A lot of people have been asking me how long I’ve been working on this EP. The easy answer is a few years, but it feels like it’s been my whole life! Everything I’ve written or been a part of musically has led to this moment, and I truly feel like these songs represent me not only as an artist but as a person,” Rosie says of the EP.

“These songs represent my experience with relationships, friendships, and all of the emotional highs & lows that come with them. I hope that anyone who listens to these songs can relate and find their narrative within them. Although my stories are important, I want to create space for listeners to reflect on their experiences and feel like they have somewhere to turn to as they navigate the highs & lows of their relationships”

To celebrate the release of Coping, we asked Rosie Darling a bunch of burning Get To Know questions. So pop it on below and see what she had to say.

How did your artist name come about?

Luckily, my real name is Rosemary Darling and I’ve always gone by “Rosie” so I definitely lucked out with a name that makes sense as a stage name too!

Tell us about a few of your tracks; their titles and what they’re about?

“Coping” is, of course, one of my favorites because it was my first single and helped showcase me to the world as an artist. This song is about how we cope after a breakup and how we tend to remember all of the little things you bond over in a relationship. I also love LANY so name dropping them in the song and having it resonate with their fans was a really exciting moment. I also really love “Water Me Down” because it’s simply about not letting others make you feel small and valuing yourself. You are already overflowing with enough-ness :)

Career highlight so far?

AH! It feels like there are so many it’s hard to pick just one! I am super grateful to have signed with such a supportive label at Nettwerk. Also, getting the official stamp of approval from LANY when “Coping” came out. That was REALLY cool haha.

Fave non-music hobby?

I love to draw! It sort of became a quarantine hobby and I’m not very good, but it’s a nice escape from music that’s also creative.

What’s on your dream rider?

This is such a funny question! Honestly, I have no clue, but I have a sweet tooth so probably some candy :) and maybe tequila!

Dream music collaboration?

This is a hard one! Maybe LANY or Halsey. I love them both and funnily enough, I went to a LANY concert in LA, and at one point Halsey came out on stage and sang a song with them. It was such a cool experience seeing my two favourite artists on one stage.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully still making music and finding ways to give back :) I love making music and I am excited for all of the opportunities that come with it. I’d love to collaborate with organizations that can really help with bigger issues around the world.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

OOOO! Surprisingly enough I don’t have one! Probably a Justin Bieber song.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

To value myself, unconditionally.

What’s one obsession you have that no one would guess after listening to your music?

Crime Junkie! I love that podcast. It is so entertaining and after quarantine, I got so sick of watching TV!
