It’s bad news for fans of Guns N’ Roses, with Slash shooting down rumours that the band have contributed a new song to the soundtrack of the latest Terminator film.

Last week, the world of music was abuzz with rumours that we would finally hear a new Guns N’ Roses song as part of the upcoming film, Terminator: Dark Fate.

Sharing a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing a Guns N’ Roses t-shirt, the GUNS OVER OZ Aussie Facebook group brought attention to reports that the band had viewed the new film in accordance with talks of submitting fresh tunes to its soundtrack.

“A source who was working On Terminator dark fate has informed that 4 members of guns n roses went to a private viewing of a rough copy of the upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger sequel movie to see if they want to put a song on the soundtrack,” the post explains.

“Apparently, Slash was at axls house to record overdubs on a song for the rush release. At this point the song name is unknown. But yes 100% verified. Guns n roses new music.”

Of course, this news wasn’t exactly a surprise for many fans of the band. After all, ‘You Could Be Mine’ was famously used as the theme to Terminator 2: Judgment Day back in 1991.

Plus, with director James Cameron back in the saddle, and Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Edward Furlong working together for the first time in 28 years, it felt like a perfect chance for new music from Guns N’ Roses.

However, despite the fact that Slash had previously said he band would be working on a new album later in 2019, the iconic guitarist has now dashed any hopes for a song appearing on the new soundtrack.

Speaking to Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation (via Blabbermouth), Slash denied that the band would resurface with new music on the upcoming film.

Check out Slash speaking to Eddie Trunk:

“There’s nothing in the Terminator movie,” he explained. “These rumours, they take off and then they get a life of their own. And you can’t reel ’em in. They just sort of get tossed around in the wind. Anyway, but, yeah, so there’s nothing in there, in that.”

However, when asked about the topic of new material, Slash explained that the band are working on new tracks between relentless touring.

“Obviously, everybody knows that we’re working on new material, which is really exciting, and so, that’s really primarily what the focus is.”

“Everybody has been sort of, like, when we’re in town, working on it,” he added later, “and then when we’re out of town, obviously not. So it’s been that kind of thing.”

While it fans won’t be seeing new Guns N’ Roses material on the Terminator soundtrack, it does bode well that the band are looking forward to new material. Considering Chinese Democracy turned 10 last year, maybe we’ve only got three years to wait before a new album?
