Hopes have been renewed for a new album with the reunited Guns N’ Roses lineup, with Slash saying it’s something the group are thinking about.

Back in 2016, the music world was undoubtedly shocked to learn that a reunited Guns N’ Roses were getting ready for their aptly-titled ‘Not In This Lifetime’ tour. With original guitarist Slash back in the fold, as well as bassist Duff McKagen, fans were witnessing something that was never going to happen.

Since the tour first kicked off in April of 2016, the band have been out on the road constantly, visiting Australia in early 2017, and planning to keep on playing until their tour wraps up in South Africa this November.

During an interview just last month, Slash revealed that the idea of new music was definitely a possibility. “It’s been talked about,” Slash revealed. “I think everybody wants to do it, and we’ll just see what happens. We’ve been busy doing this running around the planet.”

Now, in a new interview, the rocker has again spoken about the possibility of a new record, and how he had to push back the release of his latest solo album to accomodate the reunion tour.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times recently, Slash explained how when Axl Rose got in contact with him back in 2015, it was the first time that they had spoken in close to two decades.

“It was really great,” Slash explained. “It was a huge load off my mind for him and I to talk, because there’s been so much bad blood perpetuated over the years by the media.”

While the reunion was first announced in 2016, this meant that any records that Slash had been planning to make with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators would have to be postponed to squeeze in the tour.

“I went to the Conspirators guys and said, ‘Look, I’m going to do this Guns N’ Roses thing. I have no idea where that’s going to go,’” Slash explained. “Of course, the Guns N’ Roses thing turned into this juggernaut, but I was always looking for a gap to be able to go back and finish what we started with the Conspirators.”

“I had no intention of putting that to rest just because Guns N’ Roses was happening.”

“We’d been doing this up until that point for pretty much five years straight, so that, I felt bad about,” he continued. “But Guns was a major part of who I am, and I was so happy to be doing something positive with that [again].”

Of course, while Slash’s latest album with Myles Kennedy and the ConspiratorsLiving The Dream, was released earlier this month, the topic of new music from his original band is definitely still being discussed by the band.

“I don’t want to say anything that’s going to make people start thinking something [is happening], because there’s nothing set up,” Slash revealed. “But it’s definitely on my mind. I know it’s on Axl’s mind, and I know it’s on Duff’s mind.”

“It’s one of those things that you don’t want to put a timeline or a deadline on. You just let it be, and it will happen when it happens.”

If a new record is indeed recorded by the (mostly) reunited lineup of Guns N’ Roses, it would be the first album since 1993’s “The Spaghetti Incident?” to feature Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, while it would be the first album since 2008’s long-awaited Chinese Democracy to be released under the Guns N’ Roses name.

While there’s no word yet as to when a new album will indeed be recorded or released, fans are undoubtedly eager to hear a brand new Guns N’ Roses record with Slash and Duff McKagan at long last.
