Slipknot have only just unleashed their latest album, but drummer Jay Weinberg says the group are already looking ahead to their next record.
This time last month, Slipknot fans were overjoyed with the fact that they had finally received the band’s first album in five years, We Are Not Your Kind.
A brutal, powerful record that received widespread acclaim and topped the charts, fans were surprised to learn that Slipknot were already gearing up to release a second album, consisting of tracks recorded by band members during the recording of All Hope Is Gone back in 2008.
However, the good news keeps on coming for fans of the band, with drummer Jay Weinberg revealing that Slipknot are already looking towards their sixth album.

Speaking to Slipknot fanclub Outside The 9 (via Blabbermouth), Jay Weinberg was asked whether the band was already thinking about their next album, offering up some positive words in response.
“Yes. I can say yes. We’re musicians. That’s what we do,” Weinberg explained. “We write and create music, and we’ve created songs that we’ve announced that is Slipknot’s sixth album.
“But we’re constantly in a creative mode. So once we finish album number six, yeah, I think our attention definitely turns to, of course, touring and playing music in support of this new album that we’ve created and that we’re really excited to share.
“But just as artists who want to keep pushing forward and charting new territory and keep making art that we’re really proud of, of course we’re thinking about the next record. So, we’ll see.
“Who knows what that’s gonna be like, when that’s gonna be, but, yeah, we’re always thinking about new music and what the next album is gonna be like.”
In related news, Slipknot are also set to hit up Australian shores later this year, when they accompany Metallica on the long-awaited Aussie leg of their WorldWired tour.
