It feels like it’s been an aeon since Slipknot began teasing their highly-anticipated sixth record. Since the band dropped their track ‘All Out Life’ back in October, we’ve been mercilessly speculating as to when we can expect a new record from the band. Now, it looks as if we finally have some answers.

Earlier today, Slipknot launched a new website —WeAreNotYourKind.com— taken from a lyric from All Out Life. The website features Slipknot’s signature barcode. It also features a countdown set to end on March 4. What this all means remains unclear but there are some fan theories flying around that make a hell of a lot of sense.

As Consequence of Sound notes, when visiting the site on a mobile device, you’ll receive coordinates. These coordinates have been interpreted as the nearest venue Slipknot will be performing at as on their yet-to-be-announced tour. Unfortunately, in the Inner-West of Sydney, I have received jack squat. So Australian fans, it looks like we’re going to continue playing the waiting game.

However, the date “8.9.2019” does show up. The 9th of August falls on a Friday, the day new records are traditionally released. So it’s safe to assume that the next record could very well be released on August 9. This begs the question, what exactly do our favourite masked fiends have planned for March 4? A tour? A single? We need answers and we need them now.

It was revealed last year that the new record would explore themes of evil vs. good. Last month, Corey Taylor delved into the new records sound, describing some of the tracks “evil.” “It’s going to be ridiculous, let’s put it that way,” Taylor shared. We’re chomping at the bit with excitement. This is destined to be one of the most monumental releases to come out of 2019.
