In two weeks, Slipknot will release their highly-anticipated sixth record, We Are Not Your Kind. To keep their loyal maggots satiated, the band have dropped another taste of what to expect with impossibly heavy new single ‘Solway Firth.’

The band has released an accompanying music video for the track; a gory, six-minute ditty featuring a performance from Karl Urban of Lord of the Rings and Star Trek. It’s deliciously grotesque, check it out below.

In an interview with Metal Hammer earlier this year, frontman Corey Taylor revealed: “I think we’ve written our heaviest song — one of them anyway — on this new album.

“Some of this shit is just so hard and dirty fast. It’s fucking really good. It’s also us at our most ambitious, our most experimental, also us doing what we fucking do best which is basically when everybody thinks they’ve got us figured out, we just smack them in the face with everything we’ve got,”

We’re not quite sure if ‘Solway Firth’ is the song in question, but it’s definitely the heaviest single we’ve heard from the band in quite some time.

Slipknot are set to drop We Are Not Your Kind on August 9th. The band will be heading to Australian shores later this year in support of Metallica’s WorldWired tour. Check out the tour dates and ticket information below.
