Smash Mouth are the allies that we deserve.

A group of men in Boston are reportedly planning a “straight pride parade” scheduled to take place in the city during Pride Month. This group of men —who operate under “Super Happy Fun America”— exist to “celebrate the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the straight community.” We’re not entirely sure what that entails, and we’re not sure how we’re expected to differentiate between a straight pride parade and a group of men walking.

Well, everyone’s favourite power pop heroes Smash Mouth caught wind of the event, and they are certainly not having a bar of this nonsense. The band took to Twitter to share the five words every girl wants to hear, “Straight Pride Parade????? FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!”.

Smash Mouth just broke the collective hearts of homophobes in cargo shorts everywhere. True heroes. The internet has embraced their stance with open arms, many taking a moment to share their appreciation to the band.

In Smash Mouth adjacent news, back in 2016, the band revealed that they resent their affiliation with the Shrek franchise. The band took to Twitter to fight anybody who claimed that the only reason they achieved relevance was because they featured in the film’s soundtrack. The band are far too pure to be on the internet, we must protect them at all costs.
