This August, two of the most anticipated records of 2019 will have been unleashed on the world. We’ve already revelled in the pure bliss of the seventh Taylor Swift record, Lover — which dropped last week. Now, after a thirteen-year wait, we will all bear witness to the gargantuan efforts of Tool’s Fear Inoculum.

In celebration of the monolithic affair, one mastermind fan has created an epic mash-up of Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ with Tool’s ‘Stinkfist.’ The remix transforms Taylor Swift’s slice of pop perfection into a prog-metal masterpiece. Marilyn Manson wishes he could write a track that evokes the same haunting energy as Taylor Swift’s choral chorus chant. It only makes sense that Tool and Taylor Swift marry the realms of pop and prog with a collaborative release. Give the people what they deserve! You can listen to the mash-up below.

Tool will release Fear Inocolum on August 30th. It marks the band’s first record since 2006’s 10,000 Days. Ahead of the release of the record, Rod Yates sat down for an interview with frontman Maynard James Keenan, where the pair delved into the creative process of the record. You can read an excerpt of the interview below, or check out the whole thing here.

“We had those moments where we really had to step back and take a break from each other and then seriously wonder whether we were ever going to get through it.

“But somehow we really know how rare and perfect our situation is,” he adds. “We really respect it. We know we’re not just going to step out and step into something else of similarity.

“So I think everybody really values what we have, and will always come back to that place and give it another go and really try and keep it together.”
