Less than a week after problematic rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested for racketeering, the artist has been moved to a new federal detention centre TMZ reports. The rapper is now in a federal facility used to house witnesses who cooperate with the feds.

The rapper, real name Daniel Hernandez was arrested alongside four of his associates — former manager Shotti (Kifano Jordan), Ish (Jensel Butler), Crippy (Faheem Walter), and Fu Banga (Fuguan Lovick). All men are reportedly members of Bloods street gang ‘Nine Trey Blood’.

There are 17-indictments laid against the group that span from 2013 to this month. The group have been charged with distribution of heroin, fentanyl, MDMA and weed, alongside conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery. Hernandez is involved in several of the listed indictments.

6ix9ine was already on probation for a number of crimes and now faces a minimum of 32 years in prison but could receive a life sentence. His lawyers have declared that his affiliation with the Bloods gang is purely for his image and he is not actually part of the gang.

The rapper hired members of the gang to be part of his management and security team back in 2017, however his attorney Lance Lazzaro claims 6ix9ine “became a victim of this enterprise and later took steps by firing employees and publicly denounced this enterprise through a morning show.”

Lazarro told TMZ 6ix9ine’s move to a new facility was for “security reasons.” and that 69 had received death threats from members of both the Crips and the Bloods at his old facility. He is now being held in a prison used for inmates willing to cut deals with law enforcement.

The lawyer would not confirm whether or not the rapper was trying to cut a deal in return for sharing information pertaining to the racketeering charges. 6ix9ine was due to release an album today (Friday November 23rd), however it has now been postponed due to the charges against him.
