It’s that time of the year when everyone gets together to list their favourite moments, memes and music of the year that has just gone by, and so we’ve decided upon our favourite Australian tracks from this year.

We gathered together to seriously deliberate our favourite Australian tracks that have come out in 2019, and here is our official list of the songs that we believe deserve the most praise.

Tracks are listed in no particular order, we love them all equally for how incredible, genre-defying, danceable and blissful they all are in their own ways.

CLEWS – ‘Crushed II’

Now while CLEWS’ track ‘Crushed’ is simply perfect, ‘Crushed II’ takes all the powerful elements from that track and strip them back into this perfect near-ballad guitar-lead performance.

Also, it makes us feel like we’re in love again, and that is something that many songs attempt to do yet unfortunately fail. ‘Crushed II’ is just so good okay guys. I’m not crying, you are.

It’s been a big year for CLEWS and we cannot wait to see what they do next. Check out our interview with them from this year HERE.

Jack Colwell – ‘In My Dreams’

Kate Bush is quivering in her throne with the advent of Jack Colwell’s ‘In My Dreams’.

The song sparkles with the kind of panache and frivolity that we’ve been sorely missing from music in the last decade, and is an absolute triumph.

Colwell’s album Swandream is heading our way in 2020 and we cannot wait. We caught up with him to talk about the project this year, which you can read HERE.

Sampa The Great – ‘Final Form’

How can one song be this perfect? Sampa The Great has managed to create one of the best rap tracks of 2019 hands down, and all we can do is worship at the altar of her flow.

Caylene – ‘No Strings Attached’

Ever since this song came out, it’s been stuck in our heads.

Even though this track is Caylene’s debut into the world of music, we were absolutely stunned with how confident, cool and catchy it was.

Plus the video is an absolute serve. The talent is on lock with Caylene and we cannot wait to see where she goes from here in 2020.

Kaiit – ‘Miss Shiney’

This song taught me how to love myself and ended all form of depression that was in my body.

ARIA award winner Kaiit came through early this year with ‘Miss Shiney’ and I could swear that the world stopped when she did. Where were you when the greatest Australian tracks was released?

Tame Impala – ‘Patience’

While Tame Impala may have grown away and beyond the corners of Australia, we’ve never grown away from him, and his comeback track ‘Patience’ was an excellent return to form.

Drop the album already Kevin.

Japanese Wallpaper – ‘Tell Me What You Mean By That’

Not to be confused with Japanese Breakfast or Japanese House, Japanese Wallpaper is in a field of his own.

Every track is perfectly crafted with pop perfection, and we’re honestly addicted to every track from the new album. This one, however, is our absolute fave.

Montaigne – ‘Complex’

THIS. TRACK. IS. ABSOLUTELY. PERFECT.

Excuse me while I struggle to form words to perfectly describe my feelings towards this song. We just all unanimously love it so much. Montaigne is a legend.

Kota Banks – ‘Big Bucks’

I’ve made it no mystery that I stan Kota Banks, and honestly it’s my only weakness as an objective writer. My personal vote for best Aussie song of the year was ‘Big Bucks’, and only one listen will prove to you why I’m right.

The track is just effortlessly cool, overwhelmingly expensive, and sparkles with dizzying amounts of pure fun. Give it a listen.

Benedict – ‘Oh Fool’

I think I could write an entire essay on why this song is one of the greatest musical masterpieces that I’ve heard this year, but alas, I’ll try to restrain myself.

‘Oh Fool’ by Benedict is another musical debut from the year that took us by surprise with its theatrical fire and fervent fury, and our dying wish is for everyone to fall in love with this track just as much as we have.

Moreton – ‘See Yourself’

Two seconds into this song and the tears start coming down. One of the most emotional tracks to come out of this year, Moreton absolutely blew us away with ‘See Yourself’.

This spot could have easily gone to ‘The Water’ or ‘Circles’ as well, which are two other Moreton tracks we fell in love with this year.

The trio are onto some great things, and we’ll definitely we keeping an eye out for their new projects. We might need to bring tissues though, because damn.
