After three years soundtracking your morning ritual, Ben & Liam are set to leave the triple j Breakfast show, with Sally & Erica joining the team.
Back in 2017, the triple j Breakfast team underwent a little bit of a shakeup when Adelaide boys Ben & Liam stepped into the role created by the wayward Alex Dyson and Matt Okine.
With big shoes to fill, the pair revealed they went through an emotional few months at the start thanks to a litany of hate-filled messages from detractors, only to shake it off and truly shine as exceptional hosts.
Now, after three years in the role – which has seen them do everything from pranking their boss, ripping into Triple M, and copping a serve from Jimmy Barnes – the pair are set to depart for new roles in their hometown of Adelaide.
“We’ve had an absolute blast at triple j,” the duo reflected. “Never in our wildest dreams did we think two dweebs doing community radio in Adelaide would get a crack at a gig like this.
“Thanks for waking up with us, listening to our shit talk and sharing your stories, we’ll be forever grateful.”
Now, triple j have announced that the beloved Sally & Erica will serve as your Breakfast hosts in 2020.

Having kicked things off on FBi Radio’s hip-hop show in 2015, Sally & Erica soon found themselves presenting a regular hip-hop segment with Matt & Alex.
Before long, the pair became a fixture on triple j, appearing on Breakfast, Drive, Good Nights, The Hip Hop Show, House Party, and Summer Arvos, before taking over the Weekend Arvos slot in 2018.
“We’re constantly blown away by how funny, smart, compassionate and often straight cooked triple j listeners are,” explains Sally. “They never cease to entertain and amaze us and we can’t wait to spend our mornings with a couple of million music-obsessed mates.”
“We both grew up with triple j and have so many great memories of singalongs
Known as Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett to their friends, the pair are also well-known to punters at gigs as well, moonlighting as artists Coda Conduct.
Performing at festivals like Groovin The Moo, Spilt Milk and Listen Out, the pair are new signees to the Elefant Traks label, and are gearing up to unleash their second EP in the near future.
“We love making radio that makes you feel like you’re just chatting with your friends,” the pair said of their new role.
“We’re really pumped to get your stories, discover new stuff together, nerd out about music, and talk about the real shit and the dumb shit. Think Oprah Winfrey meets Flight Of The Conchords.”
If you’re keen to wish Ben & Liam a fond farewell, be sure to tune in this week and next, before Lucy Smith takes over the Breakfast reigns from Monday, November 4th until the end of the year.
