Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has treated his fans to an acoustic cover of the latest Slipknot single, ‘Solway Firth’, barely a day after it first premiered.
If you’ve been following the happenings of Slipknot recently, you’d be well aware of the fact that the band are gearing up to release their new album, We Are Not Your Kind, next month.
While they released the non-album single ‘All Out Life’ last year, they shared ‘Unsainted’ recently, and unleashed their latest single, ‘Solway Firth’, just yesterday.
Now, barely 24 hours on from its release, Trivium frontman Matt Heafy has offered up his own take on the track, stripping it back to deliver an acoustic version of the hard-rock anthem.
Yes, despite the original being a song suited to soundtrack the very depths of hell, Heafy’s acoustic version of the tune tears away the confronting heaviness and replaces it with an almost heartfelt look at Corey Taylor’s iconic lyrics.
In related news, Trivium recently caused a chuckle from metal fans around the world, after a 2018 video resurfaced showing the group accurately predicting the release date of Tool’s new record.
Maybe this could be why Matt Heafy was able to get his cover of the track out so quickly? After all, when you already know what the future holds, it makes covering a new release incredibly easy.
While Slipknot fans are undoubtedly eagerly awaiting the new record, followers of the nine will get a chance to catch them live later this year when they head to Australia as the support act on Metallica’s long-awaited WorldWired tour.
