A$AP Rocky is back doing what he does best, hitting the stage for the first time following his lengthy stay in a Swedish detention centre.

By now, we’re all aware of the recent saga that saw US rapper A$AP Rocky detained in Sweden. Kicking off in early July, the incident surrounded an altercation between two men and Rocky’s crew, with footage emerging of the rapper appearing to attack the men after they harassed him.

Soon, Swedish officials placed the rapper in detention while they charged him with assault, and investigated the matter in a thorough manner.

During this time, we saw A$AP Rocky’s manager raided, we saw a dedicated fan threaten to blow up the Swedish embassy in the US, and we even saw President Donald Trump get involved.

Thankfully, it all culminated in the musician’s release earlier this month. Now, he’s a free man, and he’s hit the stage for the first time since the ordeal.

Appearing at the Real Street festival in Anaheim, California, Pitchfork notes that A$AP Rocky was joined by the likes of Tyler, The Creator during his set, with Tyler having urged a boycott of Sweden over Rocky’s treatment.

“Y’all know how happy I am to be here right now, I wanna say this though,” the rapper explained to his fans. “When I was away—hold the mosh please, this a sentimental moment!—what I experienced was crazy.

“It was a scary, humbling experience but I’m here right now. God is good. People who ain’t even fuck with me felt sympathy. People was praying for me, that uplifted me when my spirits was low.

“I can’t thank y’all enough, man, that was crazy. Hip-hop never looked so strong together.”

While fans are undoubtedly happy to see A$AP Rocky back on the live stage once again, the rapper missed a number of European performances during his time locked up, and it’s unclear when or if these shows will be rescheduled.
