During a recent Instagram Live session, The xx frontwoman Romy Madley Croft announced her debut solo album, noting that it’s inspired by “club classics” and it’ll hopefully be released “soon”.
If you dig the stylings of The xx, frontwoman Romy Madley Croft has got something new in store for you – her first solo album is on its way.
Earlier in the week, Croft announced via Instagram that she was planning on doing a live session where she would be “singing some new songs and answering some questions,” cheekily adding that she’s “got some news,” and boy, did she.
After strumming a solo version of ‘Angels’ by The xx, she gave her fans an update on the indie pop collective: “We are making new music. We’re very much a band and we still love each other very much,”
“Oliver [Sim, bass and vocals] and Jamie [xx, synths and drums] are my best friends and always will be. I wanted to thank you ’cause I know that we are a bit slow at putting out music. I know we take our time, so thank you for your patience ’cause I know it’s a bit annoying.”
After that brief update on The xx, Croft fell into her news of her debut solo album. “We are going to be releasing new music, but in the meantime, the exciting – for me – bit of news I wanted to share with you is for the past couple years I’ve been writing a lot of songs for other people, writing a lot of songs for myself,” she revealed.
“I ended up with all these songs so I’m going to release a solo album under my name. It’s just going to be under Romy. I’m hopefully going to be releasing it soon. I have loads of songs and I feel excited to try something new.”
