Machine Gun Kelly paid tribute to Chester Bennington during his London concert this weekend, also urging the audience to “live this life.”
The pop punk singer was performing at OVO Arena Wembley when he took a moment to hail the late Linkin Park legend.
“We had a tour that we were about to start and three days before we started that tour, Chester passed away,” MGK told the audience. “The last time I saw him was here in Europe, so I encourage you, because life is short, to go live this life. I know it’s hard, man. I know this shit is fucking hard. But nights like tonight make life worth it.”
For context, MGK was set to support Linkin Park on the North American leg of their world tour in 2017, which was ultimately cancelled due to Bennington’s untimely passing.
During his set, MGK performed his 2019 track ‘Glass House’, which contained the following heartbreaking lyric: “Last time I got off the stage, I looked Chester in the face / But now he gone, and ain’t no going back.”
MGK’s U.K. tour still has several dates left, culminating in Glasgow this Friday, October 7th. He’ll then hop over to Ireland for a Dublin concert on Sunday, October 9th (see full dates here).
The tour hasn’t been entirely plain sailing, with MGK reacting angrily after his tour bus was vandalised with a homophobic slur back in August.

The incident occurred ahead of his show in Omaha, Nebraska on Thursday, August 4th. Pictures shared widely online showed the tour bus scrawled with the words “Rap Devil F****t” in yellow paint. A large image of a penis ejaculating was also painted on the other side of the bus.
MGK’s tour is in support of his sixth studio album, Mainstream Sellout, which came out earlier this year. A continuation of the musician’s transition into the pop punk genre, the album received mixed critical reviews but topped both the U.S. Billboard 200 and the ARIA Albums Chart.
