Kanye West seems to be keeping his word that his new album, Jesus Is King, will arrive next week, sharing a new behind-the-scenes look at its accompanying film.

Fans have been wondering for a while when we might just see the next new record from Kanye West. While 2018 saw the release of killer records like Ye and the Kid Cudi collab Kids See Ghosts, Kanye’s decision to tease an album ostensibly titled Yandhi for a September release resulted in nothing but heartbreak for his followers.

Although Yandhi seems to have left in the past now, Kim Kardashian let slip back in August that September would see the release of an album called Jesus Is King. Although Kanye didn’t confirm the news at first, he later shared the release date on his website, before this album was also delayed for unknown reasons.

Since then, we’ve heard news that Kanye only wants to make gospel music from now on, while Kenny G revealed he might have a guest spot on the new record. Needless to say, hardcore fans are getting eager to hear this new record, and things have begun heating up ever since the rapper revealed October 25th would finally see the album unleashed.

Most excitingly though, this new record is set to be accompanied by a full-length film of the same name which will hit IMAX theatres around the world on the same day.

As Deadline reported late last month, the concert film was filmed earlier this year, and “brings West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert,” while featuring “songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition, along with music from his new album.”

Having shared a trailer for the project just a couple of days ago, Kanye has now shared a behind-the-scenes look at things, via Rolling Stone.

“We’re here to spread the gospel. I’m not here for your entertainment,” West can be heard saying in the two-minute clip. “We’re here to save souls. Here to save people from eternal damnation. I use art to make believers.”

With the Jesus Is King film set for release on October 25th, 125 theatres outside of the US are set to show the 38-minute affair, including a handful of locations in Australia. Check out the official website for more info.

In related news, Kanye West brought his Sunday Service to Kingston, Jamaica recently, following in line with his plan to bring the event around the world. No word yet as to whether Australia will be blessed with Yeezy’s gospel sounds, but it’s still early days.
