Kanye West fans are looking to the future with cautious optimism, after the musician announced his postponed Jesus Is King album would arrive within two weeks.
Look, this last year hasn’t exactly been the best time to be a fan of Kanye West. Sure, 2018 might have seen the release of killer records like Ye and the Kid Cudi collab Kids See Ghosts, but after teasing an album ostensibly titled Yandhi for a September release, fans have been left wanting when it comes to new material.
Although Yandhi seems to have left in the past now, Kim Kardashian let slip back in August that September would see the release of an album called Jesus Is King. Although Kanye didn’t confirm the news at first, he later shared the release date on his website, before this album was also delayed for unknown reasons.
Since then, we’ve heard news that Kanye only wants to make gospel music from now on, while Kenny G revealed he might have a guest spot on the new record. Needless to say, hardcore fans are getting eager to hear this new record, and now it seems like we might finally have a date on which we can expect the album.
‘Jesus Is King’ sounds amazing! Kanye said the album is TENTATIVELY dropping on October 25.
As of yesterday, he was still working on new music, which sounds amazing. The IMAX film was very moving. He also read us scriptures.

As Complex notes, Kanye West held a Jesus Is King listening session at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. on Saturday night, where he reportedly told attendees that his new record currently has a tentative release date of October 25th.
This release date would of course make sense, with Kanye’s Jesus Is King film set to hit IMAX theatres around the globe on this same day.
As Deadline reported late last month, the concert film was filmed earlier this year, and “brings West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert,” while featuring “songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition, along with music from his new album.”
Although previous announcements have seemed lacking in substance, the fact that this new release date seems to tie in with the concert film makes this a little bit more believable for fans. Of course, in true Kanye style, we’ll only know for sure once we’re giving the record a listen.
