10-year-old musical legend Nandi Bushell has kicked off 2021 in the best possible way with a cover of ‘Song 2’ by Britpop legends Blur.

After becoming one of the big bright spots in 2020 with her wholesole “feud” with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl (which she “won“), Nandi Bushell is starting 2021 on a massive high by ringing in the new year with a thumping new cover.

But this isn’t just any ol’ cover. The talented multi-instrumentalist has apparently been learning all about Britpop and has decided to do her take on one of the all-time great Britpop songs: ‘Song 2’ by Blur.

“This week I have been learning about #Britpop, the 90’s and about this awesome battle between 2 bands called Blur and Oasis,” Bushell wrote in a tweet, tagging both bands’ official accounts and those of Blur members Damon Albarn, Alex James, Graham Coxon, and Dave Rowntree.

“The 90[s] seemed like a fun time for music. Wahoo!!! Loving this song.”

Rocking a fitting Union Jack outfit in her accompanying music video, Nandi’s cover of ‘Song 2’ showcases her musical ability as she performs every part of the song – meaning vocals, guitar, bass, and drums – all by herself.

This take of Blur’s ‘Song 2’ marks Nandi’s first proper cover of 2021 after having previously shared a post on New Year’s Eve bidding farewell to 2020 in which she and her family performed an original tune she penned for her fans, writing in a tweet: “Happy New Year Everyone! I wrote this song for you all and asked my family to jam it with me.

“I hope it puts a smile on your face even if its a little cheesy! Thank you everyone for supporting me! Love and respect to everyone.”

Now that Nandi is into the whole Britpop scene, perhaps we can expect an Oasis cover of some kind in the future or a mock feud with Liam Gallagher. Now that would be a sight to behold.
