Nick Murphy and Harley Streten have a lot in common, both have been tipped as being at the forefront of emerging music scenes in their respective cities of Melbourne and Sydney, the pair have each had a hugely successful twelve months, and both use musical monikers to deliver their tunes.

You’ll better know them as soultronica crooner Chet Faker and celebrated beatmaker Flume, and the pair have teamed up for the new music video for their collaborative jam ‘Left Alone’, featuring the former’s haunting yet soothing vocals against a bed of the latter’s more soulful productions.

The track, featuring the talents of the award-scooping Chet Faker, originally appeared on Flume’s ARIA chart-smashing self-titled debut, and the pair both appear in the shadowy new video for the tune. Beginning in near-darkness, the camera encircles the two producer/performers in a single one-shot take, slowly revealing that the pair are playing back to back.

The video marks ‘Left Alone’ as the second single from Flume’s debut album, to be released February 18th through Transgressive Records alongside the UK release of the record, following the 21-year-old’s recent signing to the UK label alongside US label Mom + Pop.

With the electronic wunderkid’s album earning Gold status and conquering Australia, debuting at #1 on the iTunes Album Chart and at the #2 spot on the ARIA charts, Mr Streten is now set to dominate international markets and is currently playing shows in Europe, with dates in Berlin, Paris, and a sold out show at London’s XOYO.

Upon completing his overseas jaunt, Flume has a busy touring schedule ahead, including a vist to Golden Plains in March before jetting back for SXSW 2013, as one of 40 acts flying the flag for Australia at the Austin, Texas industry conference.

But not before playing February’s Laneway Festival which also features – you guessed it – Chet Faker. With both artists appearing at the touring festival, perhaps fans can cross their fingers for an onstage rendition of ‘Left Alone’.

Either way, both Flume and Chet Faker seem set to capitalise on the momentum gained from 2012 (including healthy showing in Tone Deaf’s year-end poll), both already named by Triple J for their Next Crop 2013 batch of artists to watch, and looking to do in 2013, what Gotye and Tame Impala did in 2012; both acts enjoying huge critical and commercial success locally and internationally.
