The official second Soundwave 2014 lineup is expected to drop ‘late’ tonight, according to festival promoter AJ Maddah, but even with a number of bands on the announcement having already leaked, anticipation is at fever pitch.

With just hours left until the official reveal, ravenous fans are using any and all sources they can to suss out which bands are in for the Soundwave 2014 bill.

Enter New Zealand heavy rock and metal festival, WestFest, which has sparked further speculation for the big name acts that could be joining Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, and Megadeth on the Aussie bill after some poster artwork began circulating through the internet yesterday.

The artwork (shown below) featured a number of artists already confirmed for the Soundwave 2014 lineup, but also the likes of QOTSA side-project Eagles of Death Metal and glam metal band Black Veil Brides, putting them in contention for the second Soundwave lineup announcement, as FasterLouder reported.

The two-day NZ festival, to take place at Auckland’s Vector Arena on the 19th and 20th February – ahead of Soundwave 2014’s kick-off on Brisbane on 22nd of February – reportedly shows Eagles of Death Metal playing the opening day of the festival on a bill featuring confirmed Soundwave bands Megadeth, Rob Zombie, and Five Finger Death Punch.

The second and final day of WestFest features more Soundwave bands – including KoRn, Asking Alexandria, August Burns Red, Whitechapel, and Terror – but also Black Veil Brides and Kiwi metal band Saving Grace, neither of which have been confirmed for the Soundwave 2014 lineup.

Following the poster artwork doing the rounds across social media and music forums however, tour promoters ODR Productions issued a statement on their official Facebook page decrying the ‘leaked’ artwork as a fake and that the bands on it were incorrect, without actually clarifying which acts were genuine for fear of spoiling their own lineup announcement plans.

Groove Guide – another presenting partner featured on the WestFest artwork – likewise tweeted that the information on the poster was false.

The poster’s true legitimacy will be revealed tonight, at around 10pm, when the second Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement is set to drop, revealing 20 or so additional bands, including a third headliner to join Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold in heading the bill.

Tweets from Soundwave boss AJ Maddah have already confirmed the place of Devil You Know and Zebrahead as new additions to the bill, while New Jersey pop punks I Call Fives announced their place on the bill early, along with Californian exterme metal act Suicide Silence, who arrive Down Under with a new singer to replace their late frontman, Mitch Lucker.

Other bands that are likely to appear on the second Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement include Scar The Martyr, the side-project from Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, local thrash heroes king Parrot, as well as Newcastle ska band The Porkersraucous Melbourne rockers The Bennies, Swedish glam metal outfit Crashdiet. All three have yet to officially appear on the Soundwave 2014 lineup, despite each confirming their place on the tour ahead of the official lineup announcement.

Various tweets from Maddah have ruled out the likes of Rammstein, the ‘outside chance‘ of Good CharlotteDef LeppardPapa RoachSkilletIn FlamesShinedown, as well as Soundgarden, Bullet For My Valentine, Slipknot and Rage Against The Machine for the announcement.

By contrast, rumours have pegged the the likes of Jimmy Eat World, and Panic! At The Disco, Black Veil Brides, Dillinger Escape Plan, funk metal eccentrics Primus, (refugees from the cancelled Harvest 2013 lineup), and Maddah cryptically putting chart-topping Perth prog specialists Karnivool in the mix, (“not likely at this point but not totally out of the question either”).
