Veteran rocker Ozzy Osbourne has continued to open up about the rough time he’s had recently, calling 2019 “one of the most fucked-up years” of his life.
If you’ve been following the recent happenings in the world of Ozzy Osbourne, then you would be aware that the metal pioneer has had something of a rough year.
Last year, Osbourne was forced to cancel shows after he contracted what turned out to be a potentially-deadly staph infection. Sadly, the bad news kept on coming, with the rocker contracting the flu, and then pneumonia, and eventually being forced to not only cancel his Australian appearances, but also the entirety of his 2019 tour following a fall.
While Ozzy opened up about his recovery period in a recent interview, he’s now spoken to a US radio station where he has effectively labelled 2019 as his annus horribilis.
Talking to Billy Morrison of SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard (via Blabbermouth), Ozzy explained how his farewell tour kicked off with no issues, before he began running into an ever-growing list of problems.
Check out Ozzy’s chat on SiriusXM:
“It’s been one of the most fucked-up years of my life. I broke my neck in January, I had pneumonia, I’ve had fucking blood clots. I’ve had everything this year.” Ozzy explained. “It’s been an eventful year, to say the least. I have been in such pain this year.
“I was doing that farewell tour, and it was going great, I was singing better than I’ve sang, I was really happy. I went home for a short break and I got two staph infections in two of my fingers. God knows how that happened. That cleared up.
“Then I did the New Year’s Eve show at the Forum here in Los Angeles. That was the last gig I did, ’cause the following February, I went for a bathroom break in the night and lost my footing. I hit the deck like a fucking ton of bricks.”
Expanding on his health issues of late, Ozzy Osbourne noted how injuries sustained in a 2003 quad bike accident came back to haunt him during his most recent trip to the ground.
“When I fell down just after New Year’s Eve, I was lying there and I said, ‘Well, you’ve fucking done it,'” he recalled.
“So then I said to Sharon – She goes, ‘What are you doing?’ It was two o’clock in the morning. I said, ‘I think I broke my neck.’ She goes, Oh, go and get back in bed.’ I said, ‘No. Call an ambulance.’ So that was it.”
During his most recent interview with Rolling Stone, Ozzy explained that he’s hoping to have recovered by the end of the year so he can hit the road in January once again.
“My date is January, I hope to fucking God, ’cause I’m gonna go fucking nuts,” he said. “We’re just keeping our fingers crossed. It’s like making a sculpture. You chip away at it and it turns into this thing. You have to resculpture your life again.”
