When it comes to Disturbed and their controversial cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence, Russell Crowe is certainly entertained.

It’s not the first time that the Russellus Maximus has aired his love for the cover.

Back when the song dropped in 2016 Crowe tweeted that “every now and then someone comes along and redefines genius.”

While ‘genius’ certainly isn’t the label we would put on it, there’s no denying the enormity of the song – so much so, that with the current COVID-19 pandemic the band have re-released a music video for the song, featuring healthcare workers on the frontline.

Of course, Crowe had his take on the cover once again.

“Perhaps the greatest rock vocal ever,”, Tweeted Crowe.

“Thank you”, responded the band. We truly are in an era where giants roam the earth.

It’s a shame to see Crowe remain silent on the bands other huge vocal achievement – the epic vocal scat at the start of their smash hit Down With The Sickness. But rest assured, there’s plenty of quality content covering that online already.
Who knows- perhaps Crowe can help lobby for the band’s frontman David Draiman to score the gig singing the national anthem at The Superbowl that he’s dreaming about.
