Stevie Nicks has responded to her historic induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, claiming “there’s nothing better”.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the likes of Radiohead, Kraftwerk, MC5, and Ll Cool J had all been nominated for the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Also included in these nominations was Stevie Nicks, who was up for induction again, 20 years after being included as a member of Fleetwood Mac.
While it was revealed earlier this week that Def Leppard had topped the fan vote (with Stevie Nicks trailing behind in second place), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame soon revealed its class of 2019, with Nicks being honoured as the first female artist to be inducted twice.
Now, the iconic singer has opened up about her upcoming induction as a solo artist.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Stevie Nicks explained that the idea of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a second time is an “honour”.
“I’m happy this is a great bunch of people that get to walk through this little heavenly rainbow with me and I couldn’t be happier,” she explained. “I couldn’t be more honored to be going in twice.”
“First of all, to be going in once was amazing. Everybody that I know over the last 50 years, people that aren’t in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are like, ‘Well, I don’t really care.’ And as of 1998, when Fleetwood Mac went in, I always cared since I’m all about ceremony. I would say to myself, ‘Yeah, you don’t care because you’re not in it. But when you do go in it, you’ll totally care.'”

“Nobody expects to ever go in it,” she continued. “But when you get that little invitation, you’re dancing around your house because there is nothing better than being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”
“Being inducted into it twice, for your own work out of the band, there really isn’t anything better than that, to be able to be in both clubs. It’s the ‘you’re in it because you’re in a band club’ and the ‘you’re in it because of your solo work’ club.”
Of course, Stevie Nicks’ response to being inducted is a far cry from the likes of Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor, who responded to claims his band had been snubbed by saying he “couldn’t give less of a shit” about the divisive honour.
“I’m not gonna sleep any better. Included or not,” he explained. “With that being said, it’s always nice to feel you’ve been appreciated to some degree but it’s not on my list of things I have to achieve before I die.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is set to induct its class of 2019 during a ceremony on March 29th, 2019. Radiohead, The Cure, Stevie Nicks, Roxy Music, Janet Jackson, Def Leppard, and The Zombies are all set to be inducted.
