The Offspring appear to be getting closer to releasing their first new album in seven years, with recording reportedly all done and dusted.

Over the last few months, there has been plenty of talk about when The Offspring might be releasing their first album since 2012’s Days Go By.

Back in August, Tone Deaf sat down with The Offspring’s guitarist Noodles in anticipation of their recent Australian tour. When asked about future album plans, Noodles told us that the band have been toying with two records’ worth of songs.

“We don’t have any distribution at the moment, or any label to work with right now,” Noodles began. “We were trying to figure out what’s the best way to do that; ‘do we do it ourselves, do we work with somebody?’, just trying to figure all that out.”

“But we’ve got a record’s worth of songs ready to go, we’re actually looking at making two records, keeping us then going.”

Not long after, the guitarist revealed that the band had been in the studio with Bob Rock, where they had been toying with the idea of releasing a second album for their “left-field” song ideas.

Now though, it appears that we’re getting closer to hearing at least one of these records.

Responding to a fan on Instagram when asked for a new album update, Noodles replied with a rather positive message.

“The album is done,” he explained. “Working on getting it to the fans now. Stay tuned!”

While this doesn’t answer the question of when the new record will be released, some fans theorised that June could be a possible release window, with it currently being the only upcoming month that the band have no scheduled shows.

Of course, we’re going to just have to wait and see not only when the record is dropping, but also what it sounds like.

Who knows, maybe The Offspring will include a re-recorded version of ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’ as a bonus track in honour of their re-voted Hottest 100 victory?
