Thrash metal legends Slayer have just announced that their final world tour will make it to Australia, South America and Japan in 2019. After 37 years together, the band announced their breakup back in January, much to the disappointment of fans around the globe.
Luckily for heartbroken fans however, Slayer’s label Nuclear Blast stated that “There will be more, plenty more. 2019 is twelve months long, and the world is a big place. Additional tour legs will be announced soon.”
In response to the warm reception the band received on their two North American legs of the tour, guitarist Kerry King said “We‘ve been blown away by the response we‘ve been getting here in North America. We‘ve heard about fans who have driven five, six hours, or flown in from other cities or countries to see us, so we want to assure our fans that we‘ll be on the road through 2019 and will get to as many places around the world as possible to make it easier for everyone to come and see us one last time.”

Earlier this year in an interview with Danish website Heavymetal.dk, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine expressed his desire to play with Slayer again, although he stated that he “strongly” doubts whether the four thrash groups would ever perform again.
Ever since the early ’80s, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth have made up “the Big Four” of the thrash metal genre. In 2010, almost 30 years after the four groups formed, they all appeared together on the same lineup in Poland, marking the first time ever that such an event occurred.
“I would do it; I think the other two bands [seeming to refer to Slayer and Anthrax] would do it; but there’s one person that’s holding it up for everybody,” Mustaine explained.
“So you’ve gotta ask the right person. I have nothing to fear; I have nothing to lose. We’re all supposed to be friends now, so I think that if the fans are first and foremost, then you know what? Let’s go. Let’s go.”
Will this final world tour see “the Big Four” together again?
