At long last, we have something of an answer as to who the enigmatic Tortilla Man in Slipknot is, with comedian Gilbert Gottfried ‘revealing’ himself as the mysterious performer.

Earlier this year, fans of Slipknot were taken aback to learn that longtime percussionist Chris Fehn was out of the band, having sued them over some allegations regarding the handling of financials.

While rumours about original vocalist Anders Colsefini rejoining the band surfaced, the group eventually revealed that they had a new member. Dubbed “Tortilla Man” due to his appearance, the identity of this new member has not been revealed, despite efforts from fans to unmask the musician.

Even the band themselves noted they were surprised that no one had figured out who their new member is, with guitarist Jim Root conceding that Tortilla Man is indeed a rather elusive character, and Corey Taylor explaining that “even if somebody gets it right, we’re not gonna confirm it.”

Now though, it seems that the mystery is all done and dusted, with an iconic comedian outing himself as the masked muso.

Yes, the folks over at Loudwire recently teamed up with comedian Gilbert Gottfried via the Cameo service to get the famous funnyman to reveal that he is in fact the latest member of Slipknot.

“I’d just like to finally tell you I’m Tortilla Man from the band Slipknot,” Gottfried says in his iconic voice, before going on to crack a joke about Mexican food.

While this is obviously just a humorous revelation, it does give fans the chance to wonder about how wild it would be to actually learn that Gottfried – of all people – was indeed the group’s newest addition.

Of course, this is actually one of the better uses of the Cameo service that we’ve seen, with the platform allowing people to effectively hire celebrities to record video messages.

In the past, we’ve seen Soluja Boy reportedly tricked into supporting an anti-semitic hate group, while Flava Flav of Public Enemy inadvertently wished disgraced Cardinal George Pell a “happy retirement” following his conviction of child sex crimes.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see who else might unmask themselves as the enigmatic Tortilla Man in the future.

Meanwhile, the band are also set to hit up Australian shores later this year, when they accompany Metallica on the long-awaited Aussie leg of their WorldWired tour.
