Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has just appeared on one of TV’s biggest shows, joining Travis Scott for his appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Last week’s edition of Saturday Night Live generated quite a bit of controversy when its musical guest happened to be none other than Kanye West. Following a political rant after his musical appearance, fans were left a little bit bewildered and angry at what Kanye had to say.
Understandably, fans were a little bit more optimistic about this week’s episode, hosted by Awkwafina and featuring Travis Scott as the musical guest.
However, as triple j notes, the performance was a bit of an all-star event, with the likes of Kevin Parker and John Mayer joining Travis Scott’s band for the night.
Hitting the stage for the first time on Saturday night, Travis Scott called on Kevin Parker, John Mayer, and producer Mike Dean for a medley of ‘Skeletons’ and ‘Astrothunder Medley’. While Kevin Parker co-wrote and co-produced the former, John Mayer is credited as a guest performer for the latter.
But it didn’t quite end there though, with Travis Scott returning to the stage later on for a performance of ‘Sicko Mode’, which he tackled all by his lonesome.
As we pointed out back in August though, Travis Scott has just been one of the high-profile names that Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has been working with in recent years.
While the Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner has named Parker as one person he’d love to work with, the Perth muso has turned his sights on Daft Punk, now that a collab with Kanye has been ticked off his bucket list.
“Kanye held the number one spot there – he was the answer to that question for a long time. But that’s been ticked off,” Parker explained to Billboard recently.
“The other one is I guess Daft Punk. I hold them in absolutely legendary regard. They’re so god-like to me, but I don’t even know what I’d do or how I’d do it with them.”
