The Dillinger Escape Plan Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves have been announced, as part of a pair of enormous triple billed shows with Glassjaw and Dir En Grey.
Following on from this morning’s news that Soundwave 2014 headliners Avenged Sevenfold will be playing headline Sidewaves later this month, now Soundwave announce that The Dillinger Escape Plan have also been confirmed for headline concerts in Sydney and Melbourne.
Titans of envelope-pushing, groundbreaking heavy music-making, The Dillinger Escape Plan return to Australia off the back off a brane new album. Following on from their ground-breaking 1999 debut full-length, Calculating Infinity and the near-perfect pileup of craft and chaos on 2007’s Ire Works, The Dillinger Escape Plan unveiled their latest masterpiece, One of Us is the Killer last year.
Considered by many to be the best release in their esteemed catalogue, One Of Us Is The Killer also solidified the reputation the band maintains as perhaps the most formidable heavy music band on the planet.
Joining The Dillinger Escape Plan for these Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves will be New York’s Glassjaw.
Renowned for their unique aesthetic, rabid fans and constant musical transformations, they’ll be bringing all their anger and destruction to the stage for Australian fans; showing them exactly why this band is considered truly influential as hardcore artists.
Rounding out the bill is extreme Japanese musical gods, Dir En Grey, arriving for their first ever Australian shows. With eight studio albums, countless sold out shows that cross cultural barriers the world over, plus lead singer Kyo’s distinctive and versatile vocals, Dir En Grey will leave fans drooling.
The Dillinger Escape Plan, Glassjaw, and Dir En Grey Sidewaves are the latest in a series of Soundwave 2014 announcements, including a list of massive triple-bill shows featuring Eagles Of Death Metal, Rocket From The Crypt, & Mutemath, Alice In Chains, Down, and Walking With Papers, Less Than Jake, Bowling For Soup, and Zebrahead, Jimmy Eat World, Panic! At The Disco, with Alkaline Trio.
Then there’s Mastodon, Baroness, and Gojira, as well as Rob Zombie & Korn, and Alter Bridge & Living Colour, Megadeth, Volbeat, and Newsted, plus Sidwaves from Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch, AFI with ††† (Crosses), Biffy Clyro, Placebo and Clutch.
The Dillinger Escape Plan, Glassjaw, and Dir En Grey Soundwave 2014 Sidewaves also follow the big last-minute lineup changes to the Soundwave 2014 lineup after top-billed act Stone Temple Pilots announced they’d cancelled on their festival appearance and sideshows just four weeks out from the event’s kick off.
Citing commitments to recording their first album with Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, Soundwave revealed that Aussie rock favourites, The Living End, would be replacing STP on the Soundwave 2014 lineup.
The Living End are the latest addition to the bill following a third lineup announcement bringing the likes of Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, Filter, and I Killed The Prom Queen, to join festival headliners Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold, plus the ranks of such bands as Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Alice In Chains, Korn, Biffy Clyro, Mastodon, A Day To Remember, Gojria, and many more.
