Slipknot are set to play their first live set since 2016, scheduling a televised appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! next week.

For Slipknot fans, the last year or so has been a rather interesting one. With news of a new record on the way, the group have been dropping subtle hints from time to time about what it might sound like.

“(It’s) gonna be evil,” frontman Corey Taylor explained back in February. “It’s going to be ridiculous, let’s put it that way.”

Since then though, the group has embroiled in a bit of controversy, with percussionist Chris Fehn launching a lawsuit against his bandmates, claiming funds owed to him had been withheld.

Slipknot soon issued a response to this news, referring to their bandmate as a former member, while Fehn’s lawyer refuted this classification.

While not much has been said about the lawsuit in the last week or so, this has given the band time to focus on their upcoming record, announcing their first live appearance in three years.

Revealing the news on Twitter yesterday, Slipknot noted they’ll be performing live for the first time since Japan’s Knotfest in 2016 when they hit up the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage on Friday, May 17th.

Of course, this has begun to raise a few questions from fans, namely surrounding the makeup of the band and the songs they will play.

While Slipknot unleashed the surprise single ‘All Out Life’ back on Halloween, will this song make its live debut? Will we hear any more new material? Will Chris Fehn be involved in any way? Will we see the band’s new masks?

At this stage, it seems like we’ll have to wait and see, with all our questions set to be answered on May 17th.

With Slipknot’s sixth album set for release on August 9th, the band are set to head to Australia not long after, heading down under for a massive tour with Metallica. Check out all the details below!
