Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is hoping to be a free man soon, with his legal team reportedly attempting to secure a large bail package.
Back in November, Tekashi 6ix9ine (born Daniel Hernandez) was arrested on federal charges of racketeering. While he plead not guilty to these charges, he’s facing up to 32 years in prison if convicted at his trial in September of 2019.
Following his arrest, the rapper attempted to secure bail, offering up both his passport and approximately $1.7 million in funds. Ultimately, this request was denied, with the judge unable to look past the idea of 6ix9ine’s freedom posing a threat to society.
Since then, he’s been locked up in prison, where he was recently moved to a secure unit because of a threat posed by Bloods gang members.
Now, the rapper’s lawyers are attempting another bail plea.

As TMZ notes, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazarro is reportedly in the process of putting together a bail package for the rapper.
At this stage, the plan appears to be to request that the court sets 6ix9ine’s bail at $1.5 million, and for Lazarro to explain that he is neither a flight risk, nor poses a danger to the community.

At this stage, it’s not clear how successful this attempt will be, especially when we consider it’s less than the original bail request, and the fact that prosecutors supposedly have damning evidence that proves the rapper’s guilt.
At this stage, the new bail motion looks set to be filed before Tekashi 6ix9ine’s next court appearance in January. If successful, the rapper will spend the majority of 2019 awaiting his trial date, which is scheduled to take place in September.
