Queens Of The Stone Age have become one of the most charitable bands to tour the country, after raising over $20k for the Hobart Children’s Hospital.

Just last month, Queens Of The Stone Age added one final stop on their 2018 Australian tour, announcing that they were planning to perform a special gig to raise funds for the Royal Hobart Hospital Children’s Ward.

Taking place last Monday, the 90-minute acoustic gig took place at Hobart’s Museum Of Old And New Art (otherwise known as the Mona), and served as a very unique experience for both the band and their fans.

“I sit with Brody’s Mum & enjoy the wild, utterly Australian beauty,” explained Josh Homme in the lead up to the gig. “I think Mona is a perfect example of Tassie individuality, so playing there is an honour.”

Now, it appears that the concert was a rousing success, with Queens Of The Stone Age raising over $20k thanks to the intimate performance.

Taking to Facebook yesterday, Frontier Touring revealed the good news to their followers.

“We can reveal that the show generated over $20,000 in funds, to support Hobart’s Royal Hobart Hospital Paediatrics Ward,” they explained.

“The day after the show, the band made a special visit to the hospital – dropping off presents, and presenting monies to staff, and showing their support for a city close to the band’s heart,” Frontier Touring continued.

“Josh Homme even took along his mother-in-law, mum of rocker and wife Brody Dalle-Homme.”

Queens Of The Stone Age’s current tour to Australia has been a rather interesting one, with members of the group performing DJ sets, and frontman Josh Homme even revealing how he came to discover one of his favourite Australian bands, The Chats.

“They have an utterly Australian song called ‘Smoko’,” Homme explained to Zane Lowe.

“I saw it, and Dave Grohl turned it on to me, and then the next thing I know I’m playing it for Iggy [Pop],” he continued. “And I told them that and their jaws were just like completely open.”

“It reminds me of when everyone couldn’t stand us.”

Queens Of The Stone Age’s Aussie tour wraps up in Perth on Wednesday night.
