Tame Impala are really ramping up for a big 2019, announcing the release of another new single this week.
Over the last few months, Tame Impala have really been kicking things up a few notches.
In addition to being one of the headline acts at Coachella, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has been busy working with the likes of Theophilus London, and even becoming a married man.
However, the highlights didn’t stop there, with his band making an appearance on Saturday Night Live, and then releasing ‘Patience’, their first single since 2015.
Now, it seems like Tame Impala will have another new tune under their belt before they hit the Coachella stage, announcing the release of ‘Borderline’ this week.
Taking to Instagram earlier today, Tame Impala shared the single’s artwork, simply captioning it with the word “Friday”, indicating as to when we’ll hear this new track.
Of course, the band have already given us a sneak peek of this new tune, performing it on Saturday Night Live last month.
An atmospheric, psych-rock number, it’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Perth rockers. Now, we’re finally set to receive the studio version at the end of the week.
As for when we might her the full album though, Kevin Parker revealed last year that he’d “be really disappointed” if the group’s new record wasn’t out by the middle of this year.
“My thing is that I don’t like to play unreleased songs live, I like that the first time people hear it is the recorded glory,” he explained. “The pre-meditated thing I’ve spent two years on rather than us being half drunk bashing it out on stage, hitting clanger notes.”
Whenever we get the album, it seems that Coachella attendees might get to mosh to ‘Borderline’ before the rest of us do. Lucky buggers.
